FOS safety with storm clips

What property owners should know

Necessity of Wind Uplift Protection

With the increasing frequency of severe weather events such as heavy rain and storms, the importance of protection measures becomes clear. Proper wind uplift protection works only when roof tiles are secured with corrosion-resistant or corrosion-protected storm clips on a supporting batten. This ensures that the tiles do not lift or slip even during strong wind gusts, preventing damage and ensuring the safety of people, vehicles, and surrounding buildings.

Photovoltaic Systems
Wind uplift protection is also essential when installing photovoltaic systems. Insufficient securing of on-roof and in-roof PV systems poses a hazard and a financial risk. Both the roof tiles under an on-roof system and the PV modules in in-roof solutions, which replace the roof tiles, must be protected against wind uplift. It is recommended to also secure the roof areas around the PV system. The width of the area to be secured should be at least 1.50 meters to prevent damage to the photovoltaic modules from roof tiles dislodged by the storm. Storm clips should be installed by a qualified professional to ensure correct installation.
