Friedrich Ossenberg-Schule GmbH + Co KG (FOS®), a leading manufacturer of storm clips, has been committed to supporting roofing and carpentry schools for decades. With a strong focus on practical training, FOS® aids apprentices and future master roofers by offering its innovative products, such as the newly developed ridge and valley clip 513-100, to schools at favourable rates for educational purposes.
Testing new products at roofing schools
A recent example of this support is the introduction of the ridge and valley clip 513-100 at the Moers Roofing School. As part of the master craftsman training, this clip is being tested for the first time in the creation of master pieces. Master students are using the clip for complex roof structures, such as the double-lap beaver tail valley, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the process. The clip's easy hand installation, without the need for a hammer, is particularly noted for making the work significantly easier and more efficient.
Positive feedback and helpful resources
The feedback from the master students has been overwhelmingly positive. The clips impress with their simple installation, stability, and aesthetic integration into the roof design. This practical test is further supported by helpful installation videos and guides provided by FOS®. These additional materials are highly valued by the students in their training. The orderly arrangement of the clips in the packaging and the avoidance of unnecessary packaging materials underline FOS®’s commitment to quality and sustainability.
Marcel Meyer and his master piece: beaver tail valley with double-lap covering, three tiles wide, at a 60° roof pitch. He praises the appearance and stability of the beaver tail clip 425, which does not compromise the aesthetic appeal of the tiles while ensuring stable positioning.
Commitment to the next generation beyond borders
FOS®’s support is not limited to national projects. In May 2024, the company supported a training project in Romania with over 4,000 storm clips. This project enabled young roofers from Bavaria and Switzerland to learn traditional craftsmanship techniques and help preserve valuable cultural heritage in financially disadvantaged countries. This type of support broadens the professional and personal horizons of the apprentices, FOS®ters international friendships, and contributes to the preservation of historical buildings.
FOS® contributes to the quality of education in the roofing and carpentry industry through ongoing support and innovative products. Whether by providing materials for master students or supporting international projects, FOS® is actively involved in the training of the next generation of skilled workers.
Apprentices from the State Vocational Training Centre Waldkirchen and their Swiss partner school, the Polybau Education Centre in Uzwil, are roofing a structure together. The required storm clips were donated by FOS.
